PHILOSOPHY
We are interdependent.
In the Yucatan Mayan community, the phrase In Lak’ech Ala K’in roughly translates to “I am your other self" or "I am you.” This teaching exists in indigenous communities around the world and embodies the spirit of interdependence. Interdependence is my philosophy, as humans we need each other but this relationship extends to all living and non-living beings on our Mother Earth.
Although many organizations are currently focusing their attention on inclusion, diversity, equity, access (IDEA), my work invites us to focus on interdependence with the understanding that we are all in need of unlearning, healing, imagination work, and transformation—not only as the means of our mutual survival but as our North Star as we (re)build life-affirming systems for our collective liberation.
